The Ultimate Exhibitor’s Guide: TIC Telford
Exhibiting can be a high-pressure experience, but with the right preparation, the Telford International Centre (TIC) is one of the most rewarding venues in the UK. As a Midlands-based AV and event specialist, we’ve spent years navigating these halls. We’ve put together this guide to help you manage the logistics, stay comfortable, and ensure your brand stands out from the second the doors open.
1. Logistics & Stress-Free Arrival
Located in the heart of the UK, the TIC is incredibly accessible, but a few small details can make a big difference to your arrival.
- Address & Navigation: Use postcode TF3 4JH. While most traffic enters through the main gates, always check your specific exhibitor manual for your designated loading gate (often Gate B for Halls 1, 2, and 3).
- The Rail Connection: Telford Central is just a 15-minute walk. If you have heavy luggage, there is a regular shuttle bus and a taxi rank right outside the station.
- The "Pro" Sat Nav: For the most accurate directions to the loading bays, many exhibitors now use What3Words. Check your manual for the three-word code for your specific hall entrance.
2. Master the Loading Bay
The TIC is almost entirely ground-floor, which is a dream for loading, but it requires coordination.
- Access Points: * Halls 1-3: Direct vehicle access through large roller shutters.
- Ludlow Suite: Dedicated ground-floor loading.
- Ironbridge Suite: First floor access via high-capacity service lifts.
- Safety First: High-visibility vests are usually mandatory during build-up and breakdown. Keep a few spares in your vehicle to avoid being turned away at the gate.
- The 5mph Rule: Site security is strict about the speed limit. Follow the stewards' directions—they are there to ensure everyone gets in and out safely.
- Bring Your Own Wheels: While the venue has some trolleys, they disappear quickly. Always bring your own sack truck or flatbed trolley to save yourself hours of manual carrying.
3. Tech & Connectivity: Avoid the Common Pitfalls
The TIC halls are a "blank canvas." To truly engage visitors, your tech needs to be reliable.
- Power and Placement: You must order your power drops through the official venue contractor (StagecraftUK). Think about where your screens will sit before you arrive so the cables aren't a trip hazard.
- Internet Reliability: Don't rely on the public Wi-Fi for live demos. If your presentation needs a stable connection, always opt for a hard-wired (LAN) drop.
- The "Pulse" Safety Net: We know that things go wrong. If you arrive and find your video is in the wrong format, you've forgotten an HDMI adapter, or you didn't realise you needed to order a specific power feed, just ask us. We carry "emergency kits" for our clients containing everything from obscure adapters to spare media players.
4. Exhibitor Wellbeing
A happy team is a high-performing team. Use the TIC’s unique location to your advantage.
- Southwater Square: Unlike many "out of town" venues, the TIC is right next to Southwater. It’s full of restaurants like Wagamama and Zizzi, plus a cinema and a park. It’s the perfect place for a 20-minute breather away from the noise of the trade show floor.
- Hydration: The air in exhibition halls is notoriously dry. There is a Costa Coffee in the lower concourse, but we recommend bringing a reusable water bottle; there are refill points located throughout the venue.
- Parking: With 1,500 spaces, parking is usually easy. However, if you are staying in the adjacent International Hotel or Holiday Inn, check if your parking is included in your room rate to save on daily fees.
